Coach Donahue went to Bethpage High School (Long Island, NY) where he played Soccer, Basketball and Lacrosse. He received All-Conference honors in Soccer and was name All-County in Lacrosse.
Donahue went on to attend and play Lacrosse for the National Championship program, New York Tech: 2000-2001. He then went on to play at Eastern Connecticut State University from 2001-2005. He was a 2x All-Conference defenseman and also earned a scholar athlete award.
Gavin is a Health and Physical Education teacher and is Oakdale Varsity Boy’s Lacrosse Coach. Not many people know that Coach Donahue actually played midfield from 7th grade-11th grade and made the switch to defense his senior year of high school.
Coach Mike O’Halloran has been with Lax Factory since its first inaugural season and has played a key role in helping build the program to where it is today. He has helped coach and prepare all 18 Lax Factory College Lacrosse commits.
Coach O’Ha hails from Poolesville High School where he played attack for the Falcons. Mike went on to play Lacrosse at St. Joseph’s University (DI) and has been coaching at Oakdale High School as the Offensive Coordinator for the last 4 years.
O’Halloran works with our High School teams and focuses on the offensive-side of the ball. Mike currently resides in Baltimore, MD and works for M&T Bank.
A Frederick County native, Trey attended Urbana High School where he earned All-American honors while helping the Hawks reach 3 Maryland State Championships. Trey was an Under Armour Underclassmen All-American and was a C. Markland Kelly Award Finalist in 2009. Trey continued his playing career at The Ohio State University as a member of the Men’s Lacrosse team. In his Senior year, Trey helped the Buckeyes to a program best #3 national ranking and an Elite 8 appearance against Cornell, while finishing Top-10 in the country in Faceoff percentage. During his career at Ohio State, Wilkes earned 2nd-Team All ECAC Honors, was a 2013 Scholar All-American, 2x All-Academic Big Ten, 3x Ohio State Scholar Athlete and earned the Daniel P. Lindner Memorial Scholarship fund for his character and work ethic.
Since graduating, Coach Wilkes resides in Baltimore and has returned to the Frederick area to help grow the game of lacrosse. He also wants to provide Western Maryland Lacrosse Players the resources and support he did not receive as a young local player going through the recruiting process.
Coach Wilkes serves as the program’s Director and is involved in player recruiting and player development.
Coach Miner comes to us from Clinton Township, Michigan where he attended De La Salle Collegiate High School. Miner went on to further his education and athletic career right here in good ole’ Frederick County at Hood College.
Miner earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Management at Hood. A four-year starter for the Blazers, Miner appeared in 60 games in the blue-and-grey and was instrumental in the Blazers’ rise to prominence in the Capital Athletic Conference. Coach also still holds Hood’s career scoring record.
After graduating from Hood, Coach spent 1 year as a Graduate Assistant for the Hood Men’s Lacrosse Team. Kris now resides in Frederick, MD and works for M&T Bank. In his free-time, Kris enjoys lifting weights and
Coach Smith is a Frederick County Native, graduating from Walkersville High School in 2010.
Zeke went on to attend Salisbury University to further his academic and athletic career as a member of the Men’s Lacrosse Team. During his time at Salisbury, Coach Zeke was a 3x All-American and helped lead the Seagulls to two National Championship seasons.
Coach is back in Frederick, coaching at Urbana High School as the Varsity Defensive Assistant while also working full-time. Zeke enjoys spending time with his family and friends and watching the Redskins lose year after year after year….
Josh Funk grew up in Montgomery County and attended Poolesville High School where he was a Two-sport All-County player in Lacrosse and Football. He was the Montgomery County Player of the Year as a midfielder his senior year and participated in the Maryland State All-Star game for both lacrosse and football before heading off to The Ohio State University. A 2008 graduate of The Ohio State University, Coach Funk was a senior captain and Team Co-MVP on the Conference Championship team that went on to the Elite 8 in 2008. Following graduation from OSU, Josh played 2 seasons with the Minnesota Swarm of the National Lacrosse League (indoor) and was named an US Indoor Team Reserve for the 2011 World Championship.
Josh has since been coaching and working with athletes in the Montgomery and Frederick County area to help grow the game of lacrosse in Western Maryland. Coach Funk evaluates and coaches at several lacrosse showcases including 3d Blue Chip, 3d Rising, Under Armour All-America Lacrosse Under-Classmen try-outs and the Under Armour Uncommitted Games.
In addition, Dr. Josh Funk earned his Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) and Strength and Conditioning Certification (CSCS) and trains athletes locally in Montgomery and Frederick county. Josh effectively coordinates in-season and out-of season programs for athletes that incorporate strength training and injury reduction principles. He has presented at the U.S. Lacrosse Convention, Smarter Team Training Conference and for TRX in the realm of injury prevention and sports performance.
Coach Tom Gravante has been with Lax Factory for 3 years now and has played an instrumental role in helping build the program where it is today.
Gravante, who has also been at the helm of the Mount St. Mary’s Men’s Lacrosse (DI) program since 1995, has built the Mount into an annual contender in the Northeast Conference.
Coach was named the recipient of the Howdy Myers Man-of-the-Year Award by the United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association in July 2002. He joined former coaching legends Bob Scott of Johns Hopkins and Carl Runk of Towson as one of 15 to be honored as the USILA’s Man of the Year since 1988. Gravante has also been the Head Coach of in the USILA North-South Senior All-Star game on two occasions (2003 and 2010).
As a player at Hobart College in Geneva, N.Y., Gravante helped lead the Statesmen to the sixth, seventh, eighth and ninth of 12 straight Division III titles won by the Upstate New York powerhouse. For over 10 years, he held Division III tournament records for goals in a game (seven) and goals in the tournament (17). Gravante graduated from Hobart in 1988 with a degree in economics. He was inducted into Hobart’s Hall of Fame in 2006. After graduation, Gravante proceeded to work at General Electric in Syracuse in manufacturing test engineering.
Gravante lives in Frederick with his wife Nicole and two children.
Coach Higgs attended Towson Catholic in, Baltimore, MD where he was a member of the Lacrosse Team. During his career at Catholic, Coach received player of the year honors and set the the single season points record in School History.
Higgs went on to attend and play Lacrosse at Hood College (DIII) we he earned the single-season scoring record and helping Hood to the one of its best seasons in program history.
Mike resides in Frederick, MD and is a Business Development Manager a Spherion. He also claims that he “Can throw a pig skin a quarter mile”.
Coach Belcher attended Rockville High School, where he played Football, Basketball, Baseball and ran Indoor Track. He earned 1st team All-League honors twice in Football and Baseball, was 2X All-County in Football & Baseball, 2nd Team All-Met Football and All-County Chorus!
Coach went on to play Football at Towson State University and was also a member of the Men’s Club Lacrosse Team.
Coach Belcher has been with our program since the beginning and has also coached several of our coaches including Coach Funk, Coach O’Ha and Coach Gourley. He was recently nominated into the Poolesville High School Athletic Hall of Fame and has been named MCPS Coach of the year twice. Coach Belcher has been coaching for 20+ years and excels in player development and film study.
Curtiss teaches Special Education and is a Football Coach at Poolesville High School. He enjoys spending time with his family – his wife Kim, who he will have been married to for 21 years in come August, and his two sons Michael (19) and Matthew (15). Coach Belcher is also a living Kidney Donor!
Coach Gourley went to Damascus High School where he played Football and Lacrosse. He earned 1st Team All-County awards in Lacrosse and was the MVP of the East vs. West Game.
Gourley went on to attend and play Lacrosse at Pfeiffer University (DII) where he earned 1st Team All-Conference and 2nd Team All-Conference as a midfielder.
Eddie resides in Frederick County, MD and is a regional manager for a brewery. He is a HUGE hockey fan and is a 49ers fan (unfortunately). Coach Gourley was also a part of the first-ever Lax Factory coaching staff that coached the program defining 2016 class!
Coach Toohey hails from Lutherville, MD where he attended The McDonogh School located in Owings Mills, MD. Toohey ran track and played Football and Lacrosse for the Eagles – helping lead both teams to successful seasons.
Patrick went on to attend The Ohio State University to continue his academic and athletic career as a member of the Men’s Lacrosse team from 2010-2013. Toohey contributed to a very successful Buckeye season in 2013 helping lead the program to its best-ever national ranking (#3).
After graduating from OSU, Coach Toohey attended The University of Baltimore Law and is now a practicing attorney is the DMV area. Coach resides in Baltimore, MD where he enjoys watching the Baltimore Ravens on Sundays and the occasional Crab Feast during the Summer! Go Bucks!
Coach Moyer attended Seneca Valley High School where he played Lacrosse and Football for the Screamin’ Eagles.
Moyer has been coaching Youth Lacrosse for 6 years and has helped local rec programs to several Tournament Championships.
Jason helps run his family Business, Moyer & Sons Moving and Storage. Focusing more on sales and account management. He loves nothing more than spending time with his family and has traveled to 12 different countries.
Coach Hokanson attended local powerhouse, Urbana High School where he played Lacrosse and ran Cross Country. He earned All-County Honors and was a recipient of the Minds in Motion award – awarded to Student-Athletes who excel on the field and in the classroom.
Hokanson went on to attend and play Lacrosse at Pfeiffer University (DII), where he served as Team Captain and helped the program to a national ranking.
Rob is a FCPS Teacher and resides in Frederick, MD. He enjoys spending time with his family and claims his “2 year old son has better lax handles than he did in 9th grade.”
Coach Shane Curtis attended Damascus High School where he played Lacrosse and Football for the Swarmin’ Hornets. Shane was a member of the 1st Lacrosse Team at Damascus High and started in Goal, anchoring down the Hornets Defense. He served as a Team Captain and was named Team MVP. On the gridiron, Curtis was a Team Captain and helped lead his team to a State Championship!
Coach Shane went on to attend and play Lacrosse at Frostburg University where he served as Team Captain and earned a degree in Accounting.
Curtis owns a home remodeling company called High Point Contracting, LLC and enjoys watches both of his boy’s follow his footsteps in goal. Although Shane has sustained 4 ACL injuries, he still manages to compete in several adult lacrosse leagues in the area!

Coach Jason Levinson attended Glenelg High School where he wrestled and played goalie on the Lacrosse Team.
After a very successful High School career, Levinson went on to play Lacrosse for Towson State College (Towson University – DI) where he played for legendary Coach, Carl Runk. After college he spent 4 years as an officer in the Marine Corps, keeping our Country safe from bad guys.
He now owns and operates a small custom home building company and resides on his wife’s family farm with their 3 wonderful lacrosse playing children in Frederick, MD. Coach Levinson used to ride bulls and was a rodeo bullfighter but his wife made him quit when they had to sew his pinky back in place!
Coach Mike Celmer comes to us from Toms River, New Jersey where he attended Toms River High School.
Coach Celmer went on to play at Mount St. Mary’s University where he served as the team’s Face Off Specialist. In his final season, Celmer was one of the country’s top Face Off Specialist and helped the Mountaineers to two upset wins over Georgetown and the University of Delaware.
Celmer is currently finishing up his graduate degree at The Mount, while also working part-time as a coach for Lax Factory. Coach Mike is very fashionable and enjoys catching waves on the Jersey Shore.

Coach Scott Bennett grew up in the Richmond, VA area where he attended Manchester High School and was a 4-year Varsity Wrestler.
Starting with his son at U9, Coach Bennett has been a successful youth coach with LOUYAA for seven years working his way through U15. He led the 2014 LOUYAA U11 Squad to a WMYLC ‘A’ division championship, with help from several players currently on the Lax Factory 2022, 2021 and 2020 teams.
In order to keep up with the growth of the game, Coach Bennett committed himself as a student and teacher of the game by earning his US Lacrosse Level 3 certification – the highest level of training available in US Lacrosse’s Coaching Education Program.
Scott is an electronics engineer and works for the Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory, where he develops radio systems for various government sponsor communities. His wife teaches pre-school, his son plays youth football and lacrosse (LF 2021) and his daughter cheers for Linganore High School.

Coach Jonny Paige hails from Oakdale High School where he played Lacrosse for the Bears. Paige earned 2nd Team All-County as of the area’s best face off players.
Jonny went on to attend Queen’s University of Charlotte (DII) to play Lacrosse where he has been named 2x SAC 2nd team All Conference, 2x All- tournament Team, Preseason 1st team all specialist and earned 2x SAC player of the week honors. Paige has been recognized as one of the top face off specialist in DII Lacrosse.
Paige works with all our face off specialist throughout the Winter and Summer, as well working with local youth players trying to take their game to the next level. Coach also work for his family’s siding installation company during the Summer called Chang’s General Construction. Lucky for us, Jonny almost took a career in combat sports but decided to stick with Lacrosse!
College Intern Coach – Goalie Specialist
Coach Ryan Crompton hails from Middletown High School where he played Football and Lacrosse for the Knights. On the gridiron, Crompton earned 2nd Team All-State, 1st All-MVAL and 1st Team All-Frederick News Post Honors while also capturing two Class 2A State Championships in 2012 & 2013. In goal for the Knights Lacrosse Team, Ryan was a 4x All-Conference Selection, and in 2014 was Frederick News Post Defensive Player of The Year, First Team All-MVAL and an US Lacrosse All-American.
Crompton went on to attend Lenoir-Rhyne University (DII) to play Lacrosse where he has already served as Team Captain in his Sophomore Year (2016). In his Sophomore Season, Coach was a 3x South Atlantic Conference Player of the Week, was Honorable Mention All-SAC, named to the SAC All-Tournament Team and helped lead LR to a regular season Championship and South Atlantic Conference Tournament Championship.
Ryan works with all our goalies through out the Winter and Summer, as well working with local youth players trying to take their game to the next level. Although Ryan plays goalies right-handed, he is actually left-handed!
